Paul Doherty, Thomas Doherty, Declan
McKay and Denise Darragh all past pupils of St.Patrick's Primary School returned
to where it all began, to share their experiences of their recent successes on
the playing field. The four members of St.Mary's GAA Club Rasharkin showed off
their silverware, reflected on their incredible achievements to date and then
fielded questions from the young audience of the entire Primary School.
Paul, Thomas and Declan are all members of St.Mary's Rasharkin Gaelic
football team who have just concluded a very successful season, winning the
Antrim Division Two Football League and landing the double after capturing the
Intermediate Championship for the first time in thirty two years. While Denise
is part of a victorious Rasharkin Junior Camogie team who also landed a
remarkable double, winning the Division Three League and Shield.
The
school pupils enjoyed hearing the experiences of their local heroes and did pose
very interesting questions to the players about their favourite pitch, how often
they train, their favourite players, how many medals they have won, what other
sports they enjoy, how many games they have played this season, to name a few.
Thanks go to the Primary School principal Mr McCann and his teaching
staff for accommodating this visit and a special mention must go to the primary
school pupils who seem to enjoy the experience.
