A Dementia Friendly Communities Workshop was held on Monday 16thJanuary 2017, 9:30am – 1pm in Rasharkin Community Centre with a range of community representatives attending interested in enhancing their awareness, skills and support to people with Dementia. The workshop was the outcome of identified community needs and was facilitated by Alzeimher’s Society.
NACN’s Suicide Prevention Development Officer hosted the workshop with funding through the Public Health Agency. In attendance was staff from; Kennedys Pharmacy, Disability Action, Barnardos, At Marys GAA, Family members, Glenravel Parish and Loughgiel.
Dementia can happen to anyone and there is currently no cure. But with the right support, people can live well with dementia.
Alzheimer’s Society supports people with dementia to live full and engaged lives within their community for as long as possible. Through workshops they help to create dementia friendly communities in villages, towns and cities across Northern Ireland.

•Increase your confidence and skills to help you relate, communicate and support someone with dementia.
