5th February 2010
Antrim Senior Scor took place on
Friday 5th February in St.Joseph's Hall Antrim. Naomh Mhuire Ros Earcain were
there in force competing in five out of seven events coming away with three
county titles.
Congratulations go to Therese Tunney, who put in a superb performance to beat some tuff competition, to win Amhranaiocht Aonair (Solo Singing).
Nuachleas (Novelty Act) was a two horse race between Rasharkin and Aghagallon, with our brilliant act "the tale of the two Michael's", good enough to please the judges and progress to the Ulster semi final. Well done to Marian Doherty, Claire Hasson, Emma Hampson, Therese Tunney, Thomas Donaghy, Charlie Mullaghan and Kevin Mc Lernon.
Joe Crawford, Charlie Mullaghan and Patrick Kennedy also did the club proud and deserve credit for winning the Trath na gCeisteanna (Question Time). This was a closely fought battle of wits between Tir na nOg Randlestown, Naomh Comhghaill Antrim and Naomh Mhuire Rasharkin, with our brain boxes pulling through amassing a very respectable 48 points from a total of 60. Congratulations to them.
Kevin Mc Lernon flew the Rasharkin flag well in Aithrisroreacht / Scealaoicht (Recitation / Storytelling) but this title went to Philip Lavery from Aghagallon.
Eilish Mc Allister, Maeve Mc Allister, Sinead Mc Allister, Bronagh Kelly and Maura O'Mullan also had hard luck in Bailead Ghrupa (Ballad Group Singing) losing out to a very experienced Aghagallon group.
All the competitors deserve recognition for there efforts and all can feel proud of their performances. Bernie Kelly and Cultural Officer Anthony McMullan are to be thanked for their contribution in the organising and promoting of our acts. It is a great honour to be representing Rasharkin and Antrim in Ulster We wish all our acts good luck going forward to the Ulster Semi Final on Saturday 13th March at the Edmund Rice College Glengormley, come along and give them your support.
