Naomh Muire progress to the second Junior Hurling Championship final in two years following a comfortable victory over West Belfast Side O’Donnell’s at Glen Rovers Armoy on Saturday past.
Indeed, it was very much "one way traffic” with the Whiterock Road men only managing to score twice in each half. It was a ten point game at half time as the Dreen men lead 1-10 to 1-1 at the midway stage - the goal coming from a well taken strike by Eamon McNeill on the 20th minute.
O’D’s were left an impossible task in the second period, but fought hard until the final whistle and got just reward for their efforts with their second goal coming via a clever flick from Martin Kelly. Rasharkin found their groove well throughout this fixture and cut through the O’Donnell’s defense easily to convert a further 2-14, goals coming from Enda McFerran and Chrissy McKiernan. Top marksman Declan McKay deserves special mention for his contribution raising the white flags no fewer than eleven times.
Another solid all round performance from St.Mary’s who are playing quality hurling at the business end of the season. This group of players have a perfect blend of youth and experience and can all express themselves well as a unit playing end to end free flowing hurling. Managers Paul McFerran and Liam McCart have invested heavily in these guys and the evidence is obvious.
St.Teresa’s stand in the way of Rasharkin returning the Junior Championship back to Dreen for the third time, the Glen Road side will be a different proposition than O’Donnell’s and disposed of Shane O’Neill’s Glenarm in the curtain raiser on Saturday amassing a remarkable twenty six points. However, if our boys play to their full potential the rewards will come.
Good luck to management and players in the final.

On another note, I think I speck for many, it was good see Rasharkin Gael Dan McKay back out supporting his beloved St.Mary’s at Armoy on Saturday, we all wish him well for the future.
